Gatsby

So I mentioned awhile back that I adopted a new puppy name Gatsby.

He may be cute, but man, has it been a rough road.

He has been home for almost two months and he is still not potty trained. Just when I think we are making progress he does something like take a running leap onto the couch and starts peeing all over it (this happened about half and hour ago).

He has the attention span of a goldfish and training has been difficult because I swear he is constantly looking in three different directions at the same time….and none of those directions are on me!

He has even gone so far as to growl aggressively and try to bite me on several occasions for little infractions. For example, one night I was trying to make him move sleeping positions so I nudged his shoulder. Apparently that was enough to warrant an aggressive bite and attempted bite.

On top of all of that, he just doesn't seem to be bonding with me. He LOVES Rory and would follow her to the end of the earth and back, but me I feel like his reaction is just…."eh"

I am hoping that since my last day of work is over tomorrow I will be able to start an intensive bonding and training regime with him Friday morning. I've spoken to my vet about the situation and I will be using all his advice also.

Either way I promise some pictures of the little jerk guy…so here you go!

Trying to achieve one good picture together when he is not asleep.

Yea….not happening
See he can be sweet….when he is asleep!

Staples Engineering Prints

Last summer I decided that I wanted to re-do my bedroom.  I painted the room purple, which i've always wanted to do, but the big thing I wanted was prints for my walls.  I did a lot of research and man were prints expensive in the sizes that I wanted! Finally, I learned about  Staples Engineering Prints They are super cheap, and actually print really nicely (even though the website claims they are not intended for photos).  Take a look at how mine turned out (Don't mind the mess, this was still in the putting back together phase). How I did it: After my prints came in the mail, I went to Lowes and found  This . All I did was trace the print on the insulation board, cut it with a regular box cutter, and paint the edges of it with a Paint Sample  that accented my walls.  The last step was gluing the print to the insulation board. I liked  this spray  the best because I could reposition the print in case I didn't line it up just so. After I got ...

Differentiating in the Secondary English Classroom

Last year I decided that I was ready for a new challenge. I wanted to focus on differentiation as much as possible. For each new topic that was covered in my room I would do a whole group lesson on the topic, generally with a Prezi presentation. Then I would have the students break out into their learning groups and rotate through a list of differentiated activities. Today I am going to walk you through a day (or two) in my classroom teaching figurative language! Before any activities or teaching has started, all of my classes were broken down into different learning groups based on pre-test scores. Each group was assigned a color. This color would correspond to the activities they will complete during independent time. Some of the supplies I use for this: I started the class with a bell ringer from my Bellringers  and informed the class that for the next couple of days we would be working on Figurative Language: After we went over the bellringer as a class, I handed out a copy of ...
