Dirt Cheap School Supply Tip

Are your kids constantly asking to borrow something to write with? Do you have to buy school supplies with your own money? If you answered yes to either of these questions than this is the tip for you! (Side note: I should totally be on QVC....am I right?) I discovered last year that if you search on Ebay for: Misprint office supplies a treasure trove of potential pops up! They sell massive amounts of pens that have been misprinted or mislabeled from companies and sell them on the cheap! I also managed to find cheap misprinted highlighters in 2 of the 3 colors that I use to teach essay writing! Check it out! My "How to Write an Essay" product on TPT

I'm getting older by the minute....

So today is my birthday.  Birthdays always make me think more about numbers. Since I have been thinking so much about numbers I decided to make two "number" products.  A.  Back to School Worth of Words on TPT B.  Back to School About Me by the Numbers I decided that since it is my birthday I would do a couple of things. SALE! 1. I am throwing a 20% sale at my TPT store from now until Saturday! My TPT Store Birthday Presents for YOU!  2. Since it is better to give than to receive I am offering you guys two "birthday" presents. I am giving away both of my about me number activities from above if you do 1 or 2 simple things! Here's how it works :  Like my Facebook page Follow me on Instagram Email me at: Mskcpotter@gmail.com with your Facebook name and Instagram name and I will email you BOTH the products for free within 24 hours! :) If you just complete one of the tasks above, email me the name of which of the two products you want.  (Ends June 27, 2015)...

It isn't fair

I am trying to decide between two scenarios: 1. if I want to start the year with a lesson on the different between fair and equal. 2. If I want to save a collection quotes/activities ready for the first time (and you know it will happen) a student says, "That's not fair." I decided to pull together all of the quotes quotes and activity ideas that I found on the topic that I like! Love me some Snape....Always. I've always liked this cartoon and Ed Sheeran also Instagramed it so that's a + No comment needed I like telling my students that YOU are responsible for YOU. Which annoys them, but if you say it enough times, it starts to sink in.  THIS Cotton Candy Poster!  1000 times YES!  This WILL be in my classroom this year without a doubt.  Lesson Ideas Band Aid Lesson Fair Vs. Equal sticker lesson Privilege Lesson that could be adapted to fairness  Free lesson on The Sneetches  The Tale of the Three Ralphs

American Diner Revival

If you are looking for something to watch this Friday night at 10:30 you should give "American Diner Revival" a whirl on the Food Network.   The town that I teach in will be the main event.  "Farmville is home to unique outdoor events, state parks, two colleges, historical landmarks and of course unique eateries. One of these many attractions has caused a huge spotlight to be cast on the town. Walker’s Diner was nominated to be on a show called “American Diner Revival” by Theta Chi Fraternity at Longwood University. This new show aired on the Food Network on May 22 and is hosted by Ty Pennington and Amanda Freitag." Full article from my old college newspaper

Calm Down Jar Recipe

I now sell a variety of calm down bottles in my TPT store! Yesterday I talked about how I am going to utilize calm down jars in my classroom this year.  I liked the ones that I made before, but I really didn't like the bottles. I wanted a sleeker look, but I could only find glass bottles. I am sure as heck not giving an 8th grade a glass bottle when they are ticked off.  Then I visited my friend in a bigger city than mine and found PLASTIC Voss water bottles at World Market and they were perfect! I decided to give my friends with toddlers my old bottles and remake mine.  I also wanted to tweak the recipe a bit. I think I finally perfected it to my liking so I thought I would share it with you!  What you will need for each bottle: Plastic water bottle (I used Voss) 4.5 oz glitter glue (The Walmart brand ended up being the best for this) Glitter in different sizes (I used large, medium, and fine glitter flakes) 1 cup corn syrup 2 tablespoons Elmers Gel Glue 2 cups HOT ...

TPT Seller Challenge: Dare to Dream

So this week's seller challenge is to blog about our dreams for our TPT store.  Here's what I think: 1. I want my TPT income to give me a sense of security, financially speaking. I like not constantly having to worry about money. I am a worrier by nature, so it is nice to worry about one less thing.  2. I really don't do much. Most days I don't even get out of pajamas:  I may be a home body and an introvert, but that doesn't mean I don't have a sense of adventure buried within me. I will say that I have been working on visiting more places recently. I heard David Sedaris read.  I took a trip by myself to the zoo to hang out with the giraffes. I took the dogs to High Bridge Trail I traveled to Philly to an Ed Sheeran Concert and also got to see The Magic Gardens.  I went to D.C. to see Newsies and go to IKEA! I've done more in the last 2 months than I have done in YEARS combined, but it makes me want to do MORE. I am going to try to put aside a percentage of ...
